Pheochromocytoma is usually a benign tumor occurring at the adrenal medulla, particularly from the chromaffin cells. Around 90% of the tumor originates from the medulla, while the remaining percentage develops in the chromaffin tissue inside or nearing the aorta, spleen, ovaries, and other organs.
